Effortless in 2017: Leonardo Nobre, Vice-Mister Brasil CNB 2017 & Mister Brazil International 2017

Together with the Mister Polski competition, the Mister Brasil CNB contest is the very best in national male competitions. It has proper preliminary rounds, excellent social media exposure and its contestants are highlighted in an exemplary way.

One young man, we have followed for months in the Mister Brasil CNB competition is Leonardo Nobre, who first won the local leg of the contest competed in his hometown of Natal. After securing the Mister Rio Grande do Norte title he was set to compete at the national level. This was Leonardo first foray into the world of modelling and male contests.

Leonardo prepared meticulously, a process he shared with the world in his social media account. You could see the earnestness and dedication with which he took on representing his home state.

In this whole process his charisma was clearly evident, he was being himself, not taking on any persona, being effortless and even somewhat shy.

We predicted Leonardo as the one to beat in the national competition and ultimately he was bested by only one other participant.

Leonardo will be representing Brazil at the Mister International competition in December of this year and for us he is a definite front runner in that contest.

Effortless in 2017: Leonardo Menegon, Mister Mato Grosso and Mister Friendship at Mister Brasil CNB 2017

In the lead up to the Mister Brasil CNB 2017 competition, we published on our Facebook Page our list of 10 young men to watch.  These were the guys we would describe as having the charisma, being EFFORTLESS, to make it to the top of the competition. One of these was Leonardo Menegon, Mister Mato Grosso. Furthermore, we predicted Leonardo would be one of the Top 3 in the competition.

Leonardo made it to the Top 20 and was also voted Mister Friendship by his fellow contestant. Leonardo’s reaction to winning this title is a vivid illustration of why he is one of the best male contestants we have come across.

You could say that Leonardo is too down to earth to be in the world of modelling and contests. Notwithstanding, he fits in excellently.

You get the impression that he is just being himself, exploring life’s opportunities and being open to all sorts of new experiences. A regular guy living his life outside the box, without compromises.

We are disappointed that Leonardo will not be representing Brazil internationally and it would be great if he were to take another shot at the title of Mister Brasil CNB.

Effortless in 2017: Jack Eyers, Mister England 2017 & Mister World England 2018

As we stated previously, what makes a male competitor great is his charisma. He needs to project approachability, to be kind of man that men want to emulate and women (and some men) want to be with.

Charisma is not something you can learn or practice,  although you will see most male contestants try. Charisma has to be EFFORTLESS.

One young man who you can say is the epitome of charisma is Jack Eyers, Mister England 2017. Jack is ruggedly handsome, an avid sportsman and, as they say, he “cleans up nicely”. He is a catwalk and commercial model and never puts on airs. In all his pictures he just looks like you captured some of his daily activities. Jack is indeed EFFORTLESS.

Jack is also smashing barriers in the world of pageants and fashion, as the first amputee to win a national title. With Jack, that is the last thing you notice though.

Jack will represent England at Mister World 2018 and we already predict he will do very well at this competition.

GOWN PORN

Another welcome deviation from the Bling Wars, is this creation by Pinoy designer Mark Bumgarner. It is smashing, as it does not contain any decoration. This allows the simplicity of the material to highlight the design, a modern interpretation of a timeless classic. As worn by newly crowned Miss World Philippines 2017, it could have been a masterclass in evening gown presentation. Sadly, she chose to wear this beautiful creation with the most inappropriate footwear, cheapening the overall look.

GOWN PORN

In this time when it seems that designers are trying to see who can put the most bling on a gown, this toned down version by Pinoy designer Mak Tumang really catches the eye and sets the one wearing it apart from the crowd.

MASTERCLASS: The Best Gown Look of the 65th Miss Universe Pageant’s Preliminary Competition

It is time to present the Best Gown Look of the 65th Miss Universe pageant, not only of the Preliminary competition. Coupled with an masterful catwalk presentation, this gown set Iris Mittenaere well on her way to winning the title of Miss Universe.

Indeed, the Best Gown Look of the 65th Miss Universe pageant belongs to

 MISS FRANCE

Its unusual colour made Iris’ gown stand out in a sea of same-olds and its shape was perfect to showcase the future Miss Universe’s hourglass figure and gorgeous shoulders. The choice of shoes, hairstyle and accessories complemented the elegance and class of the gown and Iris’ catwalk and poses were simply ideal for this unique gown.

Iris looked ready for the red carpet of all the major award ceremonies and even the Met Gala. Or as it turns out, to win the Miss Universe crown.

This presentation gave us an indication of what we are now seeing, that Iris Mittenaere will be one of the, if not the, most stylish and fashion forward Misses Universe of the last 20 years.

MASTERCLASS: The Second Best Gown Look of the 65th Miss Universe Pageant’s Preliminary Competition

We have been presenting to you the five gown looks that we consider pushed the envelope in the right direction during the Preliminary competition of the latest Miss Universe pageant. This is an homage to the five young ladies who presented red carpet looks suitable for the most elegant and classy events.

The Miss Universe stage should be the showcase for elegant, fashion forward creations by up and coming designers from around the world and we do hope that future contestants will emulate the gown presentations of our five honourees.

In 5th place we had Miss USA, in 4th place Miss Aruba and 3rd place went to Miss Jamaica.

The second best gown look in the recently concluded Miss Universe pageant was worn by:

MISS INDONESIA

Kezia Warouw knocked it out of the Mall of Asia Arena with this intricately elegant gown, another simple design made unique by the materials used. Kezia took a gamble wearing black as this is not considered a good pageant colour. By combining the top netting with a nude background, the gown was made playful and that diminished the negative connotation the colour could evoke.

Kezia chose to wear her hair down, simply styled, coupled with her hoop earrings. This would be a look more suitable for a swimsuit presentation. In this case however, it made her overall look much less somber than could have been expected with her choice of gown colour.

Special kudos to Kezia as well for keeping her hair completely off her shoulders and showcasing her gorgeous neck and shoulders.

MASTERCLASS: The Third Best Gown Look of the 65th Miss Universe Pageant’s Preliminary Competition

The recently concluded 65th edition of the Miss Universe pageant, now under ownership of WME/IMG, encompassed a redefinition of the brand.

The gowns worn by the contestants in the competition however, defy redefinition. The Miss Universe stage should be the showcase for elegant, fashion forward creations by up and coming designers from around the world. Yet this year once again, the majority of contestants wore dresses that you would only see in a pageant or at a prom.

A select group of contestants though, did manage to present red carpet looks suitable for the most elegant and classy events.

We are presenting to you the five gown looks that we consider pushed the envelope in the right direction during the Preliminary competition of the latest Miss Universe pageant.

In third place we have:

MISS JAMAICA

Isabel Dalley, the second Caribbean queen to make our list, is truly a Lady in Red in this exquisite creation, complemented by the ideal hairstyle and accessorised with suitable earrings and footwear.

How would we improve on this look?

The feathers are really not needed and diminish the elegance.
